We are Vibha Austin, the Austin action center for Vibha, a US-based, non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization. Our volunteers organize regular campaigns and events to promote our mission and raise funds to support child development projects in India. Our flagship fundraising event is the annual 5K walk/run. Over the years, the walk in Austin has raised over $50,000 for underprivileged children in India and US. Our other events include sporting events such as the ever popular cricket tournament, which has now become an annual fixture, volleyball tournament and bowlathon. We also organize social events such as movie nights, DJ mixers and children's fairs.

Community Involvement

Vibha Austin volunteers regularly work with several projects that help underprivileged children in the Austin area. We organize special events through which we provide the opportunity for everyone to help the children in our community. Every year a portion of the proceeds from our annual 5K walk/run benefit local organizations that work with underprivileged children. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas is the local beneficiary of Support a Child Vibha Walk/Run 2006. Past beneficiaries include Austin Children's Shelter and the Heart House of Austin.

About Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas

Big Brothers Big Sisters is the oldest and largest youth mentoring organization in the United States, having recently celebrated our centennial. We have been serving the children of Central Texas since 1971. Our mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one relationships and our vision is successful mentoring relationships for all children who need and want them, contributing to better schools, brighter futures, and stronger communities for all.

Our mentoring programs are based on one-to-one friendships. We pair adult volunteers or "Bigs" with youth or "Littles" between the ages of 6 and 16. Bigs spend time with their Littles on a regular basis doing fun, everyday activities such as playing games, going to the park, watching movies or whatever it is you two decide to do. Adult mentors are always needed for both our community-based and school-based programs. In as little as one hour a week, you can impact the life of a child forever.
